KUNDALINI GLOBAL YOGA TEACHER + HOLISTIC THERAPIST

Kundalini Yoga is an ancient yogic discipline rooted in spiritual awareness and the exploration of the powerful potential within. While some yoga practices focus primarily on the physical body, Kundalini invites a deeper connection to mind, body and energy.

Kundalini Global, created by Carolyn Cowan, is a contemporary evolution of the practice. It steps away from the Kundalini Yoga lineage taught by Yogi Bhajan, removing the concept of a “guru” and offering a more radically inclusive approach. The practice welcomes all religious beliefs, physical abilities, body sizes, gender identities, ethnicities and ages.

We practise postures and kriyas combined with breath, mudra, bandha, meditation and mantra, working with the body’s energy to increase circulation, support neuroplasticity and help us thrive thrive at our highest potential.

A key focus in a KG class is the central nervous system and stimulation of the vagus nerve ~ the powerful connection between brain and body. Through breath, posture and fascia release, we encourage circulation, support the endocrine and immune systems and release natural endorphins. This helps calm the nervous system, shift us out of fight-or-flight and into the parasympathetic state ~ a place of quiet, balance and stillness.

Our yoga mat is our safe haven where we commit to our practice and learn how to navigate tricky times. It's

where we begin to understand how to hack into the

stress system, learning how to regulate ourselves.

Which naturally raises our energetic vibration.

 

Many people turn to yoga as a powerful release for stress, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, self-harm, addiction, and traumatic or upsetting experiences in life. Sometimes we carry baggage with us from our childhood or family history.

This baggage can be held as what we call 'contracts' deep within our physical body and often held as shame. Contracts can change the way the brain copes with stress by triggering us. When we’re dealing with the ‘pain of the past’ and the ‘fear of the future’ we’re often repeating what has gone on before us. Hence we call it our ‘history’.

In class with me, we’ll begin to gently shift unhelpful patterns and negative cycles. If you’re feeling stressed, anxious, overwhelmed or simply worn down by everyday life, I will guide you towards stillness and a more balanced state of mind~cultivating a deep sense of safety and ease.

I'M LISSY BONES

I consciously choose to live my life by raising my energetic vibration. I live in central London and regularly feel the pull to escape the city for the open skies of the country or to be by the sea. This is my reset. These days we live in a constant state of overload: at home, at work and with social media. By returning to the simplest of pleasure, we can restore balance and protect our energy.

I’ve worked in the advertising and creative industry for over 25 years, running my own business for the last 20 years. At 18 yrs old I discovered my passion for yoga and holistic health practices.

Training under Carolyn, a trauma therapist, has deeply shaped my teaching and awareness ~ equipping me with the skills to confidently guide clients into presence. Reading the room, teaching with authenticity and holding a safe, grounded space are central to my approach with all clients.

I'm also a children’s yoga teacher, energy healer, massage therapist and am trained in The Metamorphic Technique. Currently training in lymphatic myofascial and buccal massage which I will be offering in W10.

My KG classes are open to all abilities -

supports/props are available, with alternative postures given. You can practice in a chair too.

Sadly my classes are not suitable if you are pregnant.

Being a mother to a teenage daughter I understand the need to support mental health even more in this digital age. I'm trained in Self Harm and Suicide Prevention.

I’ve practiced yoga for over 20 years and no class left me with a feeling of complete and utter peace in the same way. Lissy’s classes really tap into you deeply, making you feel
you’re diving deep into the sensations of the body. The relaxations become a slice of heaven after a strong posture or breath. I always leave on a natural high, with a slight euphoric feeling. It’s addictive! Thank you Lissy for giving me back my mind!
